“Some weather we’re having today!” Mrs. Fairewell exclaimed to Mrs. Upham as they walked down the busy cobbled lane to the market.
“It’s quite warm, don’t you think?”
“Little Johnny just started at the shop, he’s going to be a natural just like his father,” Mr. Taylor’s proud voice boomed to Mrs. Smith, who was gallantly struggling under the weight of her purchases.
“Yes, we redid the entire front room, thank heavens. It was certainly ghastly before,” Lady Roberts said to Lady Ashley as their ornate carriage bumped up and down, pulled by princely steeds.
“There is still so much work to be done in the garden!” lamented Sister Theresa to Sister Isabella, wringing her hands and rushing by. “Not to mention the washing to do, the baking….”
“I had the most dreadful morning,” complained Lord Landon to Lord Burton and Mr. Ellsworth as they casually strolled up the walk.
“Nothing a pint can’t fix.”
